Java was too slow, SDL with C++ is nice, but it's not supported in the ways I want. So now I've redone the whole thing in C# with XNA.
I'm currently implementing my collision detection and movement functionality. I wrote a path-finding algorithm, but it wasn't working quite how I wanted, and using path-finding causes problems with on-the-fly collisions, as I would have to recalculate the path (quite time consuming).
Well, time to get back to it!!
